Remembering the punk days suffers from the music industry putting everyone in their niche and those involved themselves accepting it and going along with it. Punk is now just another art industry genre, labelled, packaged and carefully defined. That process probably started almost as soon as punk started. Punk is dead but long may live what gave birth to it int the first place and give rise to other musical styles outside the mainstream as has indeed happened since 1976 on several occasions. However all take the same route. Maybe one day we will take control of our musical expression in western society and not succumb to the lures and drives of the industry. However until that day we must learn to recognize the power of that which oppresses our genuine expression and our genuine desire to enjoy.
