All forms of government are forms of oppression. However, democracy is the most refined form of oppression the world has yet seen as it has given people a stake in their own oppression. Other governmental forms left people outside the system and thereby enabled people to recognize the nature of their oppression and their role in such governed societies with a greater if not perfect clarity. However, with the advancement of democracy and people being pulled into the system themselves a more confused state has arisen as oppressing oneself is not natural to the human condition creating an obvious contradiction that impacts on an individual. Even in places not described as democratic there are movements either internal or external to create a democratic existance leaving democracy as the main political feature or driving force of the majority of the world and one of the main features in establishing confusion.
